Is the house more important than the land on which it sits?
Does the house compliment, and use as a resource its environment?

Is the house and property accessible to all who live and visit?

Is the house a conduit, a mirror, of the lifestyle and values  of its occupants?

Is nature subordinate to the house?

Is the architect subordinate to the owner?

Is the landscape architect subordinate to the architect?

The above are questions that we should ask ourselves. It is our belief that a "home" is a partnership between the occupants, the built environment and the natural environment. That the house will work with and compliment the land on which it rest rather than ignore, obscure or obliterate the land.

That the owner and project team understand that symbiotic relationship and accept mother nature as an equal partner in all phases. That the owner and the project team collaborate as equals rather than a subordinate hierarchal top down "chain of command".  That the land, its undulations, it's size, it's geology, and it's setting, give focus and  shapes the opportunities that provide the blueprint for the built environment that rest, and lies on the land.
