It's the middle of December, we have been working on Herons' House for three months without one rain day. We are now dried in with the roof felted and the windows (some of them) installed. So as they say this time of year, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

There are many trades working on the house now and it is getting a bit complicated keeping them all on track.  The trades are working well together so that helps.

If framing is the skeleton of the house, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical and insulation are the guts. That is the phase that we are in now and yesterday, Dec. 17th, the Plumber and the HVAC contractor finished up their rough ins.  After xmas the house belongs to the Electrician for a couple of weeks.

Tonight, December18th, Julie and I visited the house, the evening was incredible as you can see!

A very special fountain and piece of artwork for Julie and me.  Shannon Hearne is the artist.

The fountain is on the wall opposite the stairway down into the vineyard.

We are building a Craftsman's Prairie style house so wood windows were a good choice of material as opposed to Aluminum, Vinyl or fiberglass. Nothing beats a real wood window and  if taken care of, wood windows can last centuries. All of the windows and doors in both the Egret and Herons House will be Pella wood windows either casement as in the picture or awning. The doors will be both French and sliding doors.

Aluminum spaghetti, it was amazing to see the whole house with the ducts running throughout.  Herons' House will have two FAU's in a duel zone configuration and the Egret also received a new FAU and ducting.
