We have had a lot of questions as to the size and some specifics about our project. So I thought I would cover some of the basics on this page. We refer to the existing part of the home as the "Egret" and the new house as "Herons' House" They are connected by a small hallway so technically, the Egret is a wing of Herons' House. The practical layout of the homes are that they are a house and a guest house.
- The lot size is just under 1/2 acre. ther is an additional 10 acres of lagoon watershed protected area that the property backs up to
- The Egret is 1300 sq ft of living space, 3 bedrooms, two baths and a family room. We have converted one of the bedrooms into a living area.
- Herons' House is 3350 sq ft of living space, 3 bedrooms, two and half baths.
- The total living space is 4650 sq.ft. and has 6 bedrooms and 4.5 baths.
- In addition to the above there is a 440 sq. ft. subterranean wine cellar, a 500 sq ft garage and a 500sq. ft. wine preparation/wood working studio.
- The total inside space (living space plus cellar/workrooms) is 6090 sq.ft.
- There are 6 decks between the Egret and Herons' House for a total of 1350sq. ft of balcony space, most under roof.
- There are four patios plus and outdoor kitchen, an outdoor dining room and a fire pit for the landscape flatwork.
- Herons' House has an elevator for accessibility and to service the reverse floor plan.
- There are two nanawall systems, one in the kitchen, one in the music room.
- There is a total of 70 wood windows and doors between the Egret and Herons' house.
- Four fireplaces and one firepit
- One water fall, one pond, and two fountains
- A yet to be planted, 120-150 vine vineyard
- Design time was 5 months
- Permitting was 2months
- Lot prep, retaining wall and block/cement work up to finished slab including wine cellar was 2months
- Finished construction on slab will be 5.5 months
As we get nearer the end of the construction phase of our project, we continue to be amazed by the craftsman who are building our house and the design genius of our project team led by Bart Smith at DZN Partners.
Wow! we are living on site and loving every day. six weeks until we move into our home and the once far away dream becomes reality.
we are so blessed.
