It's almost 2009

Fall has been a great season at Herons' House.  We have just over 90 gallons (450 bottles) of Brunello wine resting in French oak barrels from this years harvest.   Having finished  fermentation and Malolactic fermentation, the wine is now beginning to unveil itself to us. Although still just a few months old,  it is sampling great.   A year on oak and a year in the bottle will mature the wine nicely.

Fall colors at the home are incredible.  Here in San Diego, the joke is we have two seasons, spring and summer.  With a vineyard and native plants, you experience all four seasons.  It's soothing on a soul and much preferable to the "always green" of queen palms and lawns that dominate So-Cal landscaping.

Happy New year!
